Our Life, Our Sweetness and Our Hope

Who could ask for a greater Mother?

You chose to have your Son, to keep Him and raise Him

Even in the midst of poverty and confusion.

You loved Him and cared for Him

Through all the difficulties of childhood.

You sheltered Him from all those who wished Him harm

You were faithful to His Father and to your husband

Despite being dedicated to a life of virgin piety.

You watched as He grew into a man

You taught Him all that you knew

How to live and how to love

According to the ways of God and man.

O Mother, how your love spreads to all

Shining out, encompassing everyone in its light

Piercing through our faults and failures

Without diminishing or corrupting.

You forever hold us as we weep

Under the weight of this valley of tears;

To lift us up as we fall;

To show us the way to your Son

Even in this most bitter exile.

Turn your most precious gaze ever towards us, O Mother of Mercy

Queen of grace and hope

Our eternal Star.

Even as we see your eyes

The eyes of a woman, a human

We see the eyes from which

The very eyes of Our Lord were made.

O Mother, I love you so dearly

Even in the pain and hardship of our lives

The strain between mothers and children

Wives and husbands,

You remain, O Favored One

An image of splendor undimmed and unbroken

To remind us of the love of a mother

More beautiful than all treasures

The gift to all women

For the healing of the world.

God bless all women, all mothers, all widows, and all girls

Protect them from all the evils of this world

In its unfailing assault against motherhood and marriage;

Show them all the beauty and honor of motherhood

And fill them with the same grace and love

That you gave to your own Mother, O Lord my God

So we may feel firsthand that love

Your own Mother has shown to You.

Thank you for this most gracious gift of mothers and of all women, my God.

We are all truly blessed.

Happy Mother's Day and very blessed Month of Mary!

God bless
